ERE Lab Series #6: Strengthening the Quality of Test and Non-Test Research Instruments

Yogyakarta, October 4, 2025 — The Educational Research and Evaluation Laboratory (ERE Lab), in collaboration with the Master and Doctoral Programs in Educational Research and Evaluation (ERE)—both Regular and Distance Learning (PJJ) schemes—of the UNY Graduate School, once again hosted its flagship academic forum: ERE Lab Series #6, themed “Strengthening the Quality of Research Instruments: Test and Non-Test.”

Held virtually via Zoom, the event attracted hundreds of participants from across Indonesia—undergraduate and graduate students, lecturers, researchers, and education practitioners—all sharing a strong interest in research methodology and educational measurement.

The session opened with a report by Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyadi, M.Pd., Head of the Doctoral Program in ERE (Regular & PJJ), who emphasized the importance of reinforcing researchers’ methodological competencies. The Director of the UNY Graduate School officially inaugurated the event, commending the ERE Lab’s consistent dedication to enhancing students’ research capacity. Rina Safitri moderated the session, maintaining an engaging and dynamic discussion atmosphere throughout the webinar.

The main session featured four distinguished speakers: Dr. Umi Farisiyah, M.Pd. presented on the new paradigms of validity and reliability estimation and their practical applications; Hermina Disnawati, M.Pd. discussed Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) for uncovering factor structures; Dr. Ezi Apino, M.Pd. elaborated on Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to assess model fit; and Habib Ratu Perwira, M.Pd. shared insights on item analysis for developing both test and non-test instruments.

The discussion was highly interactive and application-oriented, with participants actively engaging in conversations about data analysis techniques using various statistical software. Beyond gaining materials, e-certificates, and session recordings, attendees left with both a deeper theoretical understanding and practical skills in developing and validating research instruments scientifically.

ERE Lab Series #6 reaffirmed the ERE Laboratory’s commitment to serving as a center for innovation, collaboration, and continuous development in educational measurement, assessment, and evaluation—aligning with the UNY Graduate School’s vision to foster a culture of excellence and integrity in research.
