Jakarta — The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (Gs UNY) paid an official visit to the Human Resources Development Agency of Transportation (HRD Agency of Transportation) to initiate a collaborative partnership aimed at strengthening education, enhancing human resource capacity, and developing an academic ecosystem within vocational higher education institutions under the Ministry of Transportation.

The meeting, attended by the Director of SPs UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO., and the Secretary of  HRD Agency of Transportation, Dr. Capt. Wisnu Handoko, M.Sc., was conducted in a constructive and cordial atmosphere, focusing on the exploration of various strategic collaboration opportunities.

Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo emphasized that GS UNY is fully prepared to support HRD Agency of Transportation’s initiatives in human resource development and academic quality enhancement through a collaborative approach.
“As a graduate institution with extensive experience in learning system development, quality assurance, and academic mentoring, GS UNY is committed to sharing knowledge and best practices. We see significant potential for synergy to strengthen the higher education ecosystem in the transportation sector,” he stated.

The discussion covered potential areas of cooperation, including the development of training programs, accreditation assistance, formulation of quality assurance instruments, strengthening scientific publication governance, and the utilization of educational technology. HRD Agency of Transportation presented several ongoing strategic initiatives, such as the optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS), integration of academic data, and efforts to establish a more interconnected learning platform and academic system across its polytechnic institutions.

Responding to these proposals, Dr. Capt. Wisnu Handoko expressed his appreciation for the visit and welcomed broader collaboration in the future.
“HRD Agency of Transportation continues to promote capacity building within transportation education institutions. The presence of GS UNY provides valuable new perspectives for us in developing learning systems, strengthening human resources, and formulating more comprehensive academic studies,” he remarked.

In addition to digital and academic strengthening, the meeting also discussed opportunities for collaboration in preparing academic policy papers to support institutional development and mapping transportation education needs. GS UNY was identified as a potential partner in providing academic support, drawing on its institutional experience in drafting governance documents and curriculum development.

The discussion further explored potential collaboration related to the Ministry of Transportation’s double degree scholarship programs, which involve partnerships with several national and international universities. This synergy is expected to encourage the development of master’s curricula that are more responsive to the needs of the transportation sector, as well as to support competency development for government personnel.

Both parties agreed to follow up on the meeting by formulating a more structured action plan and mentoring activities. HRD Agency of Transportation plans to prepare a formal follow-up activity letter as an initial step toward implementing the collaboration. Through this partnership initiative, GS UNY and HRD Agency of Transportation aim to strengthen educational quality, enhance human resource competencies, and develop an adaptive, professional, and globally competitive academic ecosystem in the field of transportation.
