Pre-Academic Gathering: SPs UNY Prepares Distance Learning Students for Academic Engagement

The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) organized a Pre-Academic Gathering for first-semester students of the Distance Learning Program (PJJ) for the 2025/2026 Academic Year (February intake) on Saturday, 18 April 2026. Held online, the event brought together approximately 45 students under the theme “Strengthening Students’ Academic Competencies in the Era of Digital Education Transformation.”
The program was officially opened by the Director of SPs UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, who emphasized the importance of academic readiness in navigating the increasingly dynamic landscape of digital learning. He also encouraged students to make optimal use of the university’s academic facilities and resources to support their study success.
In the keynote session, Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UNY, delivered a presentation entitled “Strategies for On-Time Graduation.” He highlighted the importance of effective time management, consistent study habits, and the optimal use of academic supervision.
Further sessions featured Heri Retnawati, who presented “The Role of Students as Agents of Change,” encouraging participants to move beyond their roles as learners and contribute meaningfully to society through their academic expertise. Restu Widiatmono discussed “UNY ICT Infrastructure,” outlining various digital platforms and systems available to support effective online learning for PJJ students.
In addition, Heri Nurdiyanto delivered a session titled “From Idea to Impact,” focusing on how students can transform ideas into impactful innovations, particularly within the fields of education and technology. Meanwhile, Wawan S. Suherman addressed digital literacy through his presentation on “Digital References,” emphasizing the importance of critically accessing, evaluating, and utilizing digital resources.
The program also featured a student sharing session with Rahmatul Irfan, Eko Andi Hartono, and Stevanus Widuri, who provided valuable insights into learning strategies, challenges, and success tips for navigating online education.
Through this initiative, SPs UNY aims to equip first-semester PJJ students of the 2025/2026 Academic Year (February intake) with stronger academic readiness, enhanced adaptability to digital learning systems, and sustained motivation to complete their studies on time.
