The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY), through its Educational Sciences Laboratory, held LAB IP Series #2: TA Booster Program under the theme “Practical Strategies for Developing Final Projects in Education, from Research Ideas to Defense Readiness” on Friday, September 4, 2026. The event was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and attended by 124 participants.

Participants came from various study programs at UNY, including not only SPs UNY but also several other faculties. The event also attracted participants from universities and institutions outside UNY. The diversity of participants reflected the growing need for guidance in preparing undergraduate theses, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations.

The event was officially opened by the Director of SPs UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of developing final projects carefully, systematically, and with the right strategies. Students were also encouraged to set clear targets for completing their studies, with master’s students aiming to graduate in approximately three semesters and doctoral students expected to complete their studies within five to six semesters.

The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Christina Ismaniati, M.Pd., and featured Prof. Dr. Ali Muhtadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the main speaker. In his presentation, Prof. Ali shared practical strategies for developing final projects, from generating research ideas and formulating research problems to selecting appropriate methods and analytical techniques, organizing academic writing systematically, and preparing for thesis or dissertation defenses.

In addition to the presentation, participants had opportunities to discuss common challenges encountered during the final-project writing process. The program also provided opportunities for intensive guidance tailored to participants’ individual needs and research topics.

Through LAB IP Series #2: TA Booster Program, SPs UNY hopes to help students develop their final projects in a more focused, systematic, and efficient manner. The initiative also forms part of SPs UNY’s efforts to foster a productive academic culture, encourage timely completion of studies, and support the production of high-quality scholarly work. (SFT)
