Expanding Global Engagement: UNY Graduate School Strengthens International Networks through ICESML 2026

The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) once again demonstrated its growing international presence through active participation in the 5th International Conference on Educational System Management Leadership (ICESML) 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Held from 29 May to 3 June 2026, the series of activities provided valuable opportunities for the Graduate School community to strengthen global engagement through student mobility, guest lectures, and staff mobility initiatives.
ICESML 2026 brought together academics, researchers, education practitioners, and students from various countries to discuss contemporary developments in educational management, leadership, and educational systems. The conference served as a platform for scholarly exchange, international research collaboration, and the expansion of cross-border academic networks.
The participation of Graduate School students resulted in notable achievements at the international forum. Khofifah Alawiyah, a doctoral student in the Vocational and Technical Education (PTK) Program, together with Irwan, a master's student in the Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP) Program, received the Best Oral Presentation Award for their research examining the influence of entrepreneurship education, emotional intelligence, and parental managerial support on vocational high school students’ entrepreneurial intentions.
Another outstanding achievement was earned by Nurul Arsyi, a master's student in the Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP) Program, who received the Best Poster Presentation Award. Her research explored the application of generative artificial intelligence in educational assessment and its implications for the advancement of STEM education. These accomplishments reflect the strong academic capabilities and research quality of Graduate School students, demonstrating their ability to compete and excel within international scholarly forums.
In addition to student participation, Graduate School academics contributed to the conference through guest lecture sessions. Prof. Dr. Yudanto, M.Pd. delivered a presentation on sports education and its potential for addressing contemporary educational challenges. Meanwhile, Dr. Risky Setiawan, M.Pd. presented a lecture on meta-analysis as a research approach for generating comprehensive and high-quality evidence syntheses. Their involvement not only facilitated scholarly exchange but also showcased the academic expertise and research strengths of the Graduate School to the international academic community.
The international engagement also included a staff mobility program involving Dr. Umi Farisiyah, M.Pd. Through this initiative, opportunities were created to expand institutional partnerships, exchange professional experiences, and explore potential areas of collaboration with international counterparts.
As part of its broader internationalization agenda, the Graduate School delegation conducted an academic visit to the Faculty of Sports, Chulalongkorn University, on 2 June 2026. The visit provided an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the faculty’s academic programs and research initiatives while exploring prospective collaborations in education, research, and human resource development.
The entire series of activities reflects the Graduate School’s continued commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education through student mobility, guest lectures, and staff mobility programs. Through the active participation of students, faculty members, and professional staff in international forums, the Graduate School continues to expand its global networks while strengthening its contribution to education, research, and scholarly publication on the international stage.
