Strengthening Doctoral Research and Publication Quality: SPs UNY Conducts Joint Supervision with UPM Professor

The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) once again organized a joint supervision program as part of its continued efforts to strengthen international academic collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Supported by the EQUITY THE Impact Ranking funding program, the activity was conducted through an on-site session at SPs UNY from 4–6 May 2026 and will continue through a series of sustained online supervision sessions.
The joint supervision program featured Prof. Dr. Tajularipin Binti Sulaiman from UPM as the international supervisor, collaborating with the promoter and co-promoter from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, namely Prof. Dr. Edi Istiyono, M.Si., and Dr. Haryanto, M.Pd., M.T. The supervision was provided to doctoral student Mutmainna from the Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP) program, whose research focuses on the development of artificial intelligence-based diagnostic assessment innovations for physics learning.
Throughout the program, academic discussions were directed toward refining research problems and methodologies, strengthening research design, and sharpening data analysis to ensure stronger scholarly contributions. In addition, the supervision process also focused on the development of scientific article drafts as part of broader efforts to enhance the quality of students’ academic publications in internationally reputable journals.
The joint supervision sessions unfolded in an intensive and highly interactive academic atmosphere, characterized by in-depth scholarly discussions between the student and the supervising team. The collaboration created valuable opportunities to strengthen academic perspectives while enriching the research process through the integration of both local and international academic experiences.
Through this initiative, SPs UNY continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing the quality of doctoral research and fostering a stronger culture of international scientific publication. The collaboration between SPs UNY and UPM is expected to continue through more intensive partnerships in education, research, and community engagement in response to the evolving demands of the technological era.
