Advancing Educational Research Capacity: SPs UNY Hosts Guest Lecture on Research Proposal Writing with UPM Professor

The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) organized a guest lecture on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, at the Theater Room, 3rd Floor, Sugeng Mardiyono Building. The event featured Prof. Dr. Tajularipin Binti Sulaiman from Universiti Putra Malaysia as the keynote speaker, presenting a lecture entitled “Research Proposal Writing for Educational Studies.”

The guest lecture was attended by master’s and doctoral students from various study programs within SPs UNY, including Educational Research and Evaluation, Educational Science, Vocational and Technical Education, and Human Resource Management. The program formed part of SPs UNY’s ongoing commitment to broadening academic perspectives and strengthening students’ research capacities in developing educational studies that are responsive to global needs and contemporary challenges.

In her presentation, Prof. Tajularipin emphasized the importance of developing research proposals that not only demonstrate strong academic quality but also address real-world educational challenges and societal needs. She highlighted that research proposals should be strategically designed to maximize their relevance, practical impact, and potential to attract research funding opportunities.

Beyond discussing the structure and development of research proposals, the session also underscored the importance of cultivating innovative and contextual research ideas capable of contributing meaningfully to both scholarly advancement and problem-solving within the field of education. Such an approach, she noted, is increasingly essential in enhancing the international competitiveness of academic research.

The session unfolded in an interactive and engaging atmosphere, reflected in the participants’ active involvement through discussions and exchanges of ideas throughout the lecture. The program also served as an important academic platform for students to gain broader perspectives on designing research proposals that are more adaptive to global developments and evolving educational contexts.

Through this guest lecture, SPs UNY continues to strengthen its commitment to fostering a dynamic academic culture and enhancing the quality of student research through international collaboration. The presence of scholars from partner universities is expected to inspire students while broadening their perspectives in producing impactful and internationally relevant research.
