The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) hosted a Welcoming Ceremony for On-Site Joint Supervision to mark the visit of Prof. Wu-Yuin Hwang from National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan, on Monday, 13 April 2026. Held at the Executive Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Imam Barnadib Building, the event served as a meaningful occasion to further advance international academic collaboration.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Director for Planning, General Affairs, and Finance of SPs UNY, the Coordinators of Study Programs within SPs UNY, as well as the Coordinator of the International Affairs and Cooperation Unit. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Yudanto highlighted the importance of the visit as a strategic step toward strengthening and expanding the partnership between SPs UNY and National Dong Hwa University.

During the session, Prof. Hwang presented a range of promising collaborative opportunities. The ongoing master’s-level joint degree program with Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta was emphasized as a solid foundation, with considerable potential for further development at the doctoral level.

Beyond this, the discussion explored various collaboration schemes, including opportunities for students to undertake joint degree programs with one to two years of study experience in Taiwan, lecturer mobility initiatives, and scholar exchange programs for faculty members and emerging researchers. Particular emphasis was also placed on strengthening academic capacity through targeted training in publishing within internationally reputable journals.

The interactive dialogue addressed several key aspects, ranging from participant selection criteria and funding mechanisms to opportunities for cross-institutional research collaboration. Notably, research in the field of education—especially the integration of artificial intelligence in assessment and evaluation—emerged as a shared priority between both institutions.

Through this engagement, SPs UNY and National Dong Hwa University reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering sustained and impactful academic collaboration. The visit of Prof. Hwang is expected to serve as a catalyst for future strategic initiatives, ultimately contributing to the advancement of educational quality and research excellence at the global level.
