The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) once again organized an English language competency enhancement program through the 2026 ProTEFL Training and Test on 27 March 2026. The program was organized by the Innovation and Business Unit of SPs UNY in collaboration with the Language Service Unit of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, and was attended by 44 SPs UNY students.

The program ran over two days — Friday and Saturday, 27–28 March 2026 — from 08.00 to 12.00 WIB, delivered online via the Zoom platform. The event was officially opened by the Director of SPs UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO., who in his remarks underscored the importance of academic English proficiency for graduate students as a key asset in enhancing the quality of scholarly publications, fulfilling graduation requirements, and strengthening the global competitiveness of graduates.

Throughout the training, participants received systematically structured learning materials tailored to the specific demands of the ProTEFL test. The first day focused on grammar and reading comprehension — two foundational skills essential for engaging with academic texts in English. The second day covered listening comprehension and advanced grammar, equipping participants with a more comprehensive understanding of spoken English and broader language contexts.

Beyond content reinforcement, the program also provided students with the opportunity to gauge their English proficiency through the ProTEFL test itself. The initiative reflects SPs UNY's ongoing commitment to supporting the academic development of its students, particularly in the area of international language proficiency — an increasingly indispensable competency in today's higher education landscape.

Through this program, SPs UNY students are expected to be better prepared to meet the demands of global academia and to contribute actively to internationally recognized scholarly publications.
