Academic Gathering for Distance Learning Students#2 – Graduate School of UNY

Yogyakarta, October 23rd–25th, 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (GS UNY) held the Academic Gathering PJJ #2 (Campus Tour), officially opened by the Rector of UNY, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO., and attended by 81 participants from various distance learning (PJJ) programs. This event was part of the ongoing effort to strengthen the PJJ ecosystem toward a Cybergraduate School, enhance academic networking, and deepen inter-cohort collaboration among students.

The first day (Thursday, October 23rd) began with registration and an opening ceremony at the Sugeng Mardiyono Building, 3rd Floor Theater Room, featuring the singing of Indonesia Raya and the UNY Hymn, followed by a welcoming speech from the Director of GS UNY, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO. The program continued with a public lecture by the Rector titled “UNY as a Legal Entity State University (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum/PTNBH): Developing Excellent Human Resources with Global Competitiveness”, followed by technical briefings for the Academic Gathering #2, meetings with program coordinators, and a social gathering to close the day’s agenda.

The second day (Friday, October 24th) included a campus visit to UNY Gunungkidul, designed to introduce participants to the academic environment and culture while fostering stronger bonds and collaboration among them.
The third day (Saturday, October 25) featured visits to the Indonesian Education Museum, hands-on sessions at the UNY Digital Library with the e-Library Team, and a PJJ program evaluation before the official closing ceremony.

Overall, this series of activities highlighted SPs UNY’s mission to build an adaptive, collaborative, and globally competitive PJJ community through a structured and meaningful on-campus learning experience. The entire Academic Gathering PJJ #2 was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of academic policies, governance, and digital learning innovations, while connecting distance-learning students more closely with the institutional culture and systems of UNY.
