SPs UNY Holds Academic Gathering #3 to Strengthen Academic Support for Distance Learning Students in the Second Semester

The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta organized Academic Gathering #3 for second-semester Distance Learning (PJJ) students from 7–9 May 2026. Held on campus, the program was designed to strengthen academic support and facilitate the timely completion of studies for master’s and doctoral students.

Participants represented the Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP), Educational Sciences (IP), and Technology and Vocational Education (PTK) study programs. The event commenced with participant registration and an opening ceremony on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at the Theater Room on the third floor of the Sugeng Mardiyono Building. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Kristianus Viktor Pantaleon, Vice Rector II of the Catholic University of Indonesia Santu Paulus Ruteng.

The opening session began with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by the UNY Hymn. Dr. Phil. Rachmatul Irfan, Chair of the Academic Gathering #3 Organizing Committee, then presented a report on the program. In his remarks, the Director of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, emphasized the importance of maintaining steady academic progress, particularly in ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of theses and dissertations.

The program also featured academic orientation sessions with coordinators from each study program, aimed at strengthening communication between students and program administrators. These sessions provided an interactive forum for discussion while creating opportunities for participants to expand their academic networks across disciplines.

On Friday, 8 May 2026, the program continued with face-to-face thesis and dissertation supervision sessions involving advisors and co-advisors. As academic supervision for distance learning students is typically conducted online, these in-person meetings offered a valuable opportunity for more intensive and meaningful academic consultation.

During the sessions, students discussed the progress of their research, refined the direction of their thesis and dissertation writing, and addressed various academic challenges encountered throughout their studies.

The program unfolded in a dynamic and engaging atmosphere, with students actively participating in every session. Through Academic Gathering #3, the Graduate School reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment that contributes to the success of distance learning students at both the master’s and doctoral levels.
