GS UNY Students Join Outbound Short Course at UKM and UPSI Malaysia

Malaysia, 11–16 November 2025 — A delegation of graduate students from the Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (GS UNY) took part in an Outbound Short Course hosted by two leading Malaysian universities: the Institute of Visual Informatics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the Faculty of Computing and Meta-Technology at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). This program forms part of GS UNY’s international academic initiatives and aligns with the implementation of IFSC 2025.

The delegation consisted of GS UNY students: Endang Wati (Master in Educational Research and Evaluation), Dinda Khaira Latifa (PhD in Technology and Vocational Education), Nurmaidah (Master in Educational Research and Evaluation), Putri Nabila Utami (Master in Educational Research and Evaluation), Annisa Dwi Nursanti (Master in Educational Research and Evaluation), Ari Dwi Rahmawati (PhD in Educational Science), Wahyu Muhammad Ramdhani (Master in Educational Research and Evaluation), Rifkisyahputra (PhD in Educational Science), and Muhammad Salman Arrosyid (PhD in Educational Research and Evaluation).

At UKM, participants joined a series of public lectures, thematic workshops, research discussions, and laboratory visits facilitated by researchers and faculty members of the Institute of Visual Informatics. The sessions covered topics such as visual informatics, data science, and advanced technology-driven research approaches. Students also toured UKM’s library, museums, and academic facilities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the university’s research and innovation ecosystem.

The program continued at UPSI through academic sessions delivered via eKelas alongside local students, offering an interactive and collaborative learning environment. Participants also engaged in research discussions with UPSI faculty members and presented academic papers. One of the participants, HuayuShen, delivered a presentation that received positive recognition from UPSI academics.

Beyond academic engagements, the delegation visited UPSI’s art gallery and university museum, deepening their understanding of the institution’s cultural heritage. They also attended the UPSI Convocation Ceremony, gaining firsthand insight into Malaysia’s academic traditions and campus life.

Through the short course at UKM and UPSI, GS UNY students gained valuable insights into international research methodologies, technology-based research frameworks, and cross-country collaboration opportunities. This initiative significantly strengthens GS UNY’s global academic networks and supports its strategic roadmap toward achieving internationally standardized graduate education.
