The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) welcomed a delegation from the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education (PTK), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), for a Best Practices Sharing Session on study program management. The event was held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Hall of the Sugeng Mardiyono Building, Graduate School UNY. Attended by 29 participants from UNJ, the programme served as an academic forum for exchanging experiences and best practices in study programme management while strengthening institutional collaboration to enhance the quality of graduate education.

The UNJ delegation was led by Dr. Rina Febriani, M.Pd., Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education, accompanied by faculty members and graduate students. They were welcomed by the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Research, and Cooperation of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Dyah Kumalasari, M.Pd.; the Deputy Director for Planning, General Affairs, and Finance, Prof. Dr. Yudanto, M.Pd.; the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education, Dr. phil. Rahmatul Irfan, S.T., M.T.; the International Affairs and Partnership Unit (UUIK) team; and students from the Graduate School’s Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education.

The programme opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dyah Kumalasari, who expressed her appreciation for the academic forum as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration among higher education institutions. Dr. Rina Febriani then explained that the purpose of the visit was to learn from the Graduate School’s best practices in managing the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education, particularly in academic governance, quality assurance, and student services. Prof. Yudanto also emphasised the importance of sharing institutional experiences as a strategy for continuously improving the quality of graduate education.

The main session featured a presentation by Dr. phil. Rahmatul Irfan on the Graduate School’s best practices in managing the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education. He shared the programme’s experiences in academic governance, curriculum development, and strategies for enhancing educational services that respond to students’ needs and the evolving landscape of higher education.

The discussion session was lively and interactive, engaging faculty members and programme coordinators from both institutions. One of the key topics was strategies for attracting high-quality prospective students through more targeted promotional approaches that align with the characteristics of the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education. Participants also explored the implementation of the Graduate School’s Distance Learning (PJJ) programme, including the use of its Learning Management System (LMS) to support teaching and learning. The Graduate School’s experience in developing online learning systems attracted considerable interest from the UNJ delegation.

Further discussions covered the implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), curriculum development, and various academic management practices that support continuous quality improvement. Through this exchange of experiences, both institutions gained valuable perspectives on developing study programmes that remain responsive to students’ needs while keeping pace with developments in higher education.

Beyond the formal sessions, students from the Master’s Program in Technology and Vocational Education at the Graduate School and UNJ held a separate discussion forum to share their academic experiences. They exchanged insights on learning processes, research activities, academic culture, and their experiences as graduate students, providing opportunities to broaden perspectives while strengthening connections between students from the two universities.

The Best Practices Sharing Session concluded in a warm, open, and collaborative atmosphere. Through this forum, the Graduate School of UNY and the Faculty of Engineering of UNJ not only exchanged valuable experiences in managing graduate study programmes but also reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering a culture of quality through sustained academic collaboration. The best practices shared during the event are expected to inspire both institutions in delivering graduate education that is increasingly innovative, responsive, and of high quality.
