SPs UNY’s Educational Research And Evaluation Laboratory Hosts Webinar Series #8 On Diagnosing Student Learning Readiness Through Latent Analysis

The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY), through its Educational Research and Evaluation Laboratory (Lab. PEP), successfully held the Lab. PEP Series #8 webinar titled "Diagnosing Student Learning Readiness Using Latent Class and Latent Profile Analysis." The event took place online on Saturday, 17 January 2026, and featured Dr. Hasan Djidu, M.Pd. — a lecturer at Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka and alumnus of the Doctoral Program in Educational Research and Evaluation (PEP) at SPs UNY — as the keynote speaker.

The webinar was officially opened by the Director of the UNY Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO. In his opening remarks, Prof. Siswantoyo expressed his appreciation for the remarkable enthusiasm shown by participants from across Indonesia, and extended his gratitude to the speaker for generously sharing his expertise despite being based in Sulawesi.

He further emphasized that SPs UNY is actively expanding its academic laboratories, including the Educational Research and Evaluation Laboratory (Lab. PEP), the Educational Sciences Laboratory (IP), the Center for Information on Vocational Education and Development (CIVED), and the Distance Learning Laboratory (PJJ). In his view, these laboratories serve as the frontline in bridging scholarly knowledge with practical application, while also functioning as hubs for developing academic collaboration models and strategies relevant to contemporary needs.

Prof. Siswantoyo also noted that participation in the SPs UNY Webinar Series carries added value for attendees, as the certificates of participation are eligible for recognition under the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) program for those pursuing a Master's degree (S-2) in PEP at SPs UNY.

The Head of Lab. PEP SPs UNY, Dr. Widihastuti, M.Pd., reported in her remarks that the webinar drew 113 participants, comprising undergraduate and postgraduate students, lecturers, teachers, researchers, education practitioners, and other stakeholders. She expressed her appreciation for the active engagement and enthusiasm of the participants, which reflects a growing interest in advancing data analysis methodologies in the field of education.

Through this webinar, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of how Latent Class Analysis (LCA) and Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) can be applied as analytical tools to diagnose student learning readiness in a more accurate and data-driven manner. The event also reinforced the role of Lab. PEP SPs UNY as a leading center for the advancement of educational evaluation knowledge and practice, responsive to the latest developments in research.
