Technology and Vocational Education Webinar Series 2 Explores AI-, VR-, and AR-Based Development of Vocational Learning Tools

Tuesday, 11 November 2025 — The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (GS UNY) hosted the Technology and Vocational Education (TVE) Webinar Series 2, themed Development of Advanced Vocational Learning Tools Based on AI, VR, and AR. The online event attracted strong enthusiasm, with 80 participants from across Indonesia, including teachers, supervisors, lecturers, and vocational education practitioners.
The session was opened by the Vice Director for Academic, Student Affairs, Research, and Cooperation, Prof. Dyah Kumalasari, M.Pd., who expressed full support for the event. “This webinar is important as it brings together excellent speakers who can broaden our perspectives on the future direction of vocational education,” she stated.
The first speaker, Prof. Dr. Putu Sudira, MP, discussed supply- and demand-driven strategies in vocational learning, highlighting the importance of aligning instructional tools with industry needs so graduates possess relevant and adaptive competencies.
The second speaker, Prof. Dr. Moch. Bruri Triyono, M.Pd., presented the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), demonstrating how VR can enrich practicum activities, enhance safety, and provide immersive learning experiences.
A dynamic Q&A session followed. Participants from various regions contributed insightful questions, including Simon from Papua and Yurnida, a vocational school supervisor from Riau, who asked about strategies for integrating emerging technologies into vocational schools and requested future workshops on VR. Agus Sulistyo raised questions on ensuring that vocational learning covers all essential competencies without becoming overly theoretical. Many other questions reflected the participants’ high level of interest in transforming vocational learning in the digital era.
The webinar concluded with a hands-on practicum session on developing vocational learning tools, guided by Dr. Ir. Yoga Sahria, S.Kom., M.Kom., M.Pd., giving participants direct experience in designing learning tools that integrate modern technologies. (LS)
